Female and male osprey Threave nest, Castle Douglas 5 April |
This is great news, since we were worried that the male had returned but not the female.

We were across at Threave last week and saw the male osprey but no sign of the female. Alos on our first visit the visitor centre board said both male and female were back but on our final visit - 13th - the reference to the female had been erased. Wonder if you had any further news? Thanks
Karl Munday, who is the Head Ranger at Threave thinks that the female osprey seen on 5 April was NOT the mate of the male osprey. He thinks she was just passing through and the male osprey 'tried his luck' with her - to no avail. We are all hoping that the 'Threave' female will arrive back very soon.
