Hi, I have just read the following Written I guess on or before Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Last 2000 words on Galloway Levellers.

I am interested in the McKie family who lived in Miningaff, and area, and the Shaw's of Kells/Muirkirk. So my eye waa caught with the mention of John and Patrick McKie, I wonder if they are our McKies!

I was born at 78 Queen Street
Castle Douglas in 1942. My father had gone from Newport in Wales to Lockerbie, preparing to go to North Africa 1943. My mother has said that her time at C.D. was the happiest she has ever known, she would walk to the Lake daily with me. Mum's landlord was a Sam Colvin.

Thanks for nice reminder of your lovely town. I was there in 2000, first time since 1943, and understood why mum loved it so much.
Blessings from New Zealand I remain always 'A Scottish Welshwoman, married to a Colonial and living in the Antipedes'
